In 1992, Amanda Bossard began her research in marine biology at Anchorage at Alaska Pacific University. Bossard began her professional career as a commercial seafood expert at the age of 1999, after she began working on board the F/V Sunset the 65' halibut schooner that has been a salmon tender for Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard and Aritan are now married and have come together to stake their claim to their respective industries. The two are proponents conservation of sustainable, renewable seafood resources. In 2007, the mother of two young children Bella age three as well as Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia, opened a direct wholesale distribution of seafood named Otolith. She and her husband are separated by 5 months and more for her to focus on her financial goals and the environment. Bossard along with Isabella and Andre (ages 10 and 12 respectively) return each year, from July to August, to Southeast Alaska for the summer catch of salmon wild. in a tiny 42 salmon trolling vessel using hooks and lines to capture their salmon, they work with Aritan during two consecutive months, selling to local processors, and then continuing to increase their direct market seafood items sold via Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way buying the customized processing capabilities of small processors in order to produce unique wild seafood products that reflect their dedication to quality and environmental sustainability.
